By Psyche | November 19, 2010 | Print This Post | E-mail This Post | Leave a Comment

Hoodoo & Conjure coverA new print magazine has been put out by Planet Voodoo.

Hoodoo & Conjure Quarterly, with a focus on “New Orleans Voodoo, Hoodoo and folklore”, describes its content as follows:

Hoodoo & Conjure Quarterly journal shares historical and contemporary information about aspects of the conjure arts, including magico-religious practices, spiritual traditions, folk magic, hoodoo, and religions with their roots in the African Diaspora and indigenous herbology. Each issue of Hoodoo & Conjure Quarterly magazine brings you original and traditional formulas [sic], spells, tutorials, root doctor, spiritual mother, and conjure artist profiles, workshop listings, book, product, & website reviews, and more!

The first issue came out in October 2010, and a four issue subscription starts at 39.95$US plus shipping (shipping price increases for Canadian and international subscribers). It doesn’t look like it’s possible to purchase just the first issue at present, but that may change as the journal gets going.

Spotted on de Her Balthazar’s blog Gnostic Conjure; he has a piece in the premiere issue.

Andrieh Vitimus, Toronto Does Magic 2010This October Andrieh Vitimus is back for Toronto Does Magic 2010, a series of courses from Friday 15th, to Sunday 17th.

The courses will be held at the Naka Ima Dojo on 171 East Liberty St. Unit, #116 in Toronto’s Liberty Village.

Friday’s classes will focus on chaos magick, NLP and Andrieh’s experience as an exorcist, magickian and Vodou priest, Saturday will consist of an all day boot-camp, culminating in a brunch and book signing on Sunday and a Real World Boot Camp Practicum.

Classes range from donations to 165$Cdn for the boot-camp if purchased separately, but if you pre-pay by August 31st you can attend all six events for 175$Cdn. On-site the complete package will cost 205$Cdn.

Last year I had the pleasure of being Andrieh’s guest at L’Heure Noir in Hamilton, and can attest to his skills as an speaker – he knows his stuff, and as the last event was such a blast, I’m sure this one will be as well.

For more information see Toronto Does Magic 2010.

Vodou, cartomancy, demons and the Illuminati conspiracy

Saturday Signal on Plutonica.netSaturday Signal: sifting the signal from the noise of the Internet’s occultural cacophony.

The first week of the Esoteric Book Club has had mixed results. We’ve started the first and second exercises, but participation hasn’t been as high as was suggested by the book club’s launch.

There’s still lots of time to join in. All forums will remain open indefinitely, and when a topic is replied to it shoots to the top, so we’ll see it and respond. So, if you’ve been thinking about it, but haven’t dived in yet for whatever reason, please do join us!

Found something nifty? Please share it in the comments, or if you use delicious, tag it “ahrfoundation” and we’ll take a look. Thanks!
